PESHAWAR – The Khyber Medical University is going to hold a three-day “Health Research Conference” from tomorrow (Friday) here at the Institute of Basic Health Science.

Addressing a news conference here at the Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, Director of the Office of Research Innovation and Communication (ORIC), Dr Mukhtar Zaman, said that annual health-research conference would be held from February 15 to 17 here at the Institute of Basic Health Science, KMU, Peshawar.

He informed that the basic aim of the conference was to improve the standard of research.

The inculcation of research culture among the students and faculty of undergraduate and postgraduate institutions was another objective of the conference, he added.

He further said that the research value base at KMU is reflective of its social and contractual accountability to the diverse cultures of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and target areas that have direct relevance to the community and health professionals needs.

He said the holding of conference was part of the efforts to upgrade search standard.

More than 89 research papers, including 27 international reputed, would be presented during the three-day conference, Dr Mukhtar said adding “we expect that around 500 delegates including three researchers from United Kingdom will participate in the annual conference. In this regard a scientific committee has so far short-listed around 89 abstracts of which 53 qualified for the Oral Presentation and 36 were selected for the Poster Presentation, he informed and said that different sessions would be conducted during the three-day conference.
