LAHORE – The country’s promising grapplers will showcase their talent and promise in the 2nd National Youth Wrestling Championship commencing here at the Punjab College of Commerce (PCC) today (Thursday). Pakistan Wrestling Federation (PWF) was organising the two-day activity which would help in identifying new talent, said Chaudhary M Asghar on Wednesday. The wrestlers from Pakistan Army, Railways, Police, Wapda, HEC, Islamabad, Punjab, Balochistan, KPK and Sindh will compete in different age group bouts. The competitions will be held in 10 weight categories including 39-42kg, 46kg, 50kg, 54kg, 58-63kg, 69kg, 76kg, 85kg and 100kg. He said after the completion of the youth competition, the seventh edition of the National Junior Wrestling Championship would go into action from February 15 at the same venue. The participating teams will be Army, Railways, Police, Wapda, HEC, Islamabad, Punjab, Balochistan, KPK and Sindh. The competitions will be held in eight weight categories 50kg, 55kg, 60kg, 66kg, 74kg, 84kg, 96kg, 120kg. Pakistan Railways Sports Board vice president Saeed Iqbal Khan will inaugurate the event and POA secretary M Khalid Mahmood will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
