RAWALPINDI – Trained officials have been deployed in all police stations of Rawalpindi district to make Pakistan Automated Fingerprint Identification System (PAFIS) more effective.

The system was installed in CPO office seven years ago and the work has been started under the supervision of SSP Operations to make it operational.

According to sources, the finger print identification system was initiated in 2006 with the assistance of USA.

The system, formed to keep record of fingerprints of outlaws, has been connected to Central Police Office Lahore and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Headquarters through online network.

When contacted, SSP Operations, Israr Amed Abbasi said that one official each in all police stations of Rawalpindi has been deployed who would take fingerprints of all arrested outlaws and send them to the central office in CPO office. He said that police have contacted NADRA for the verification of the fingerprints. He further said that the data would also be shared with FIA too.
