Qaim announces Rs4m grant for KPC

KARACHI - Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has announced special grant of Rs4 million for Karachi Press Club and assured that funds required for the development in Journalists Housing Society at Hawksbay will be released and work will be completed soon.
He announced this during a meeting with a delegation of newly-elected office bearers of Karachi Press Club who called on him at the Chief Minister House under the leadership of Imtiaz Khan Farhan, the president of KPC here the other day.
Qaim announced that he would himself visit the Karachi Press Club within a week and handover the challans of the residential plots of 467 and other remaining members of the club.
The chief minister congratulated the newly-elected body and said that Karachi Press Club was the biggest Press Club of Pakistan, and journalists of Karachi were enlightened, progressive and liberal who had always projected the truth and right aspect together with supporting the mission of human rights in the Pakistan.
Qaim added that the press and media men had always faced difficulties, pressures and hardships but they have always voiced for issues confronting the nation and the people.
The chief minister expressed pleasure over re-election of office bearers of Karachi Press Club, and said that Pakistan is a liberal country and Pakistan will get progress and development due to liberalism and open mindedness.
Newly-elected President of KPC Imtiaz Khan Farhan thanked the CM for inviting newly-elected body at the Chief Minister House and extended invitation to Qaim to visit Karachi Press Club. He added that the journalists of Karachi were allotted 166 plots in its first tenure of PPP regime and the present elected government has also issued 467 challans of plots to the members of the KPC.
He added that Chief Minister Sindh had approved funds worth Rs10 crore for development works out of which Rs; 5 crore were released and 5 crore are yet to be released.
Qaim assured the journalists that all of their issues will be resolved. On the recommendation of Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, the chief minister announced foundation of Coordination Committee which will be comprised of Waqar Mehdi as Coordinator, and Secretary of KPC Aamir Latif and Director General Lyari Development Authority will be the members.
The committee will submit its report within a week time. Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Special Assistant to CM Waqar Mehdi, Principal Secretary to CM Siddique Memon and Press Secretary to CM Allah Bachayo Memon were also present in the meeting.
