Rawalpindi-Quality Assurance Agency of Higher Education Commission and committee of experts from various universities of the country visited Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University on Tuesday.

The purpose of the visit was to review compliance of the varsity’s MS, M.Phil and Ph.D programmes with the HEC’s minimum criteria and guidelines set for these programmes.

The review committee comprised of experts and HEC officials including Dr Ahrar Khan, Agriculture University, Faisalabad, Dr Farman Ullah, Agriculture University, Peshawar, Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, Dr Rafiq Baloch, Lahore Leads University, Lahore, Dr Nazeer Ahmad, Balochistan University of Information Technology, Emerging and Management Sciences, Quetta, Dr Razia Sultana, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University for Women, Peshawar, Dr Syed Usman Ali, NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, Sulaiman Ahmad, Ali Baig, Marryam Kamal and Mehreen Baig from Quality Assurance Agency of the HEC.

From PMAS-AAUR, the senior management including the deans, directors of faculty and institutes, chairpersons, senior faculty members, director advanced studies, representatives of the controller of examinations and registrar offices participated and contributed to the review meeting.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr Sarwat N Mirza apprised the committee about the various programmes offered by the university in order to strengthen the research output and also briefed the committee about the academic, research and developmental progress of the university.

The committee members also held meetings with deans of the faculties, chairmen of departments and director advanced studies and got the information about the status of their programmes.

Later, the committee also met registered scholars of MS/MPhil and PhD programmes of various faculties and institutes of the university. They visited classrooms, labs and library to see sufficiency of research and support facilities and services at PMAS-AAUR.

Finally, the review committee shared their observations with Dr Sarwat and the director QEC in exit meeting. They appreciated the efforts of the QEC to have managed the review visit.
