LAHORE: Government College University’s Associate Professor Dr Tanzeem Akbar Cheema was gunned down in Lahore.

According to police, the incident took place at 10pm on Tuesday night when the grade 20 associate professor of Botany department was going home.

Unknown armed suspects stopped him on Kalma Chowk and tried to loot the professor. The robbers shot Akbar Cheema upon resistance, they added.

The doctors said that the victim lost his life during operation, while the corpse has been shifted to General Hospital for post mortem.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif has take notice of the incident and directed Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) to submit report as early as possible.
