NAB summons Fawad Hassan Fawad

LAHORE: NAB Punjab has summoned Fawad Hassan Fawad secretary to Prime Minister in an inquiry against Management of Punjab Land Development Company (PLDC).

The Bureau called him to appear before the Combine Investigation Team (CIT) of NAB on Thursday (today) and answer the questions.

A letter issued to Mr. Fawad and available with The Nation speaks, whereas the competent authority has taken the cognizance of an offence committed by above mentioned subject under the provision of NAO 1999. It further said, “Inquiry has revealed that you are in possession of information and evidence regarding award and cancellation of contract in respect Ashiana-e-Iqbal Project launched by PLDC”.

Sources in NAB said that M/s Latif and M/s Conpro were two competitors in Aashiana Iqbal bidding, however contract was awarded to M/s Latif being lowest. After award of contract, CM office with intentions to oust the winning contractor, initiated inquiry.

Sources further claimed that being secretary to CM Punjab ,Fawad Hassan called project director Of Aashina Iqbal in his office and threatened him and under the garb of allegations of wrong doings in  the award of contract of Aashina Iqbal to M/ s Latif and Sons asked him to cancel this contract illegally.

Project Director Moazzam Ali also revealed in his statement that Fawad Hassan also called CEO PLDC in his office when he was also present there.

He further stated that contract to be awarded to m/s Conpro the complainant firm and Fawad Hassan Fawad pressurised CEO PLDC for cancellation of contracted firm M /S Latif and Sons ,in last days of government (March 2013).

A NAB officer seeking anonymity said that Fawad Hassan Fawad was being called as he is privy to certain facts of the case and need to be confronted with statements of other witnesses and record on above allegations.
