ISLAMABAD -  The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted one week more to Minister of State for Interior Affairs Talal Chaudhry to engage a counsel in the contempt case. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan heard the suo moto notice taken against Tala for allegedly issuing contemptuous speeches against the judiciary. Talal Chaudhry appearing before the court submitted that he had engaged Asma Jehangir for pleading his case but she has passed away hence more time is required to engage a new counsel.

At this the court allowed him to engage a new counsel and adjourned the hearing till January 19. Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on February 1 had taken the suo motu notice of Chaudhry’s ‘contemptuous speeches’ against the judiciary.
