LAHORE – Capital City Police Officer Lahore Muhammad Aslam Tareen has ordered stern departmental action against such police officers and officials as create problems for the people instead of their solution.

According to an official handout, the city police chief was reviewing performance of the complaint cell setup at the office of CCPO in 2012. In-charge of the complaint cell Inspector Rizwan Saeed briefed the CCPO and informed that complete follow-up of the applications received at the cell is maintained properly.

In-charge Complaint cell informed that 7452 complaints were lodged against police officials and others during 2012 by citizens, while 662 applications were referred by prime minister, CPLC and army authorities, 1539 by Chief Minister Punjab, 3297 by IG Punjab, 239 by Chief Secretary, 82 by Home Secretary and 152 by Commissioner and District Coordination Officer. A total of 13426 complaints were received by the complaint cell at the CCPO office in response to which cases were registered and the problems of the people were resolved in 4806 cases. Similarly, investigation of cases was transferred on 111 applications, cases were disposed of on 304 applications while punishment was awarded to police officers and officials on 179 applications. Moreover, 2012 applications proved bogus and conciliation was made on 1251 applications. 2040 applications were rejected due to non-pursuance, 990 applications were such on which police could not interfere, 449 applications were filed due to wrong and incomplete addresses while 1284 applications are still pending.
