KARACHI – Inspector General of Sindh Police, Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari has called for pursuing a comprehensive strategy to take effective security measures during the holy month of Rabiul Awal, especially, on the eve of 12th Rabiul Awal.

He has directed to make all out efforts to ensure security at different programmes which will be organised to observe the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) on 12th

Rabiul Awal, said a statement issued on Sunday. The IGP Sindh has directed for monitoring of the main public gathering and procession of the 12th Rabiul Awal, from watch towers and also deploy the security personnel at roof-top on the route of the main procession.

The Sindh Police chief also directed for advance technical sweeping on the route of main procession by the bomb disposal squad. The statement said there are around 3,028 mosques, 1,007 religious seminaries and 305 imambargahs in the metropolis.

He has directed the police stations to ensure intelligence information collections, immediate action, vigilance and deployment of plainclothes police personnel in connection with the security arrangements.

The IGP Sindh further directed the police stations to submit detailed reports about the strength of the staff, available arms and other equipment so as to take steps for up-gradation of the police stations.

Meanwhile, MPA Nishat Muhammad Zia Qadri chaired a meeting of religious leaders and Administrator of Shah Faisal Town, Water Board, KESC, Fire Brigade, Health Department, Police and other officials concerned to discuss the arrangements of the Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). The MPA directed to remove all encroachment from the surroundings of mosques and imambargahs and venue of different programmes and routes of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal processions. He also directed the KESC officials to ensure smooth supply of electricity. He appealed to the people to show unity, promote brotherhood and inter-faith harmony to maintain peace during the holy month.

The Administration of Shah Faisla Town has declared Municipal Emergency in the town till 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal to provide best possible facilities on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

This was decided in a meeting chaired by the Town Administrator Kamal Mustafa. The leaves of officers and staff of the Town have also been cancelled to ensure the provision of all civic facilities on the occasion.

All concerned officers including Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and Karachi Electricity Supply Company (KESC) attended the meeting.
