PESHAWAR - Public Transport Owners Association Sunday staged a protest demonstration against unscheduled tax and threatened the government to launch wheel-jam strike if their demands were not fulfilled.

President of the Association Khan Zaman Afridi, Yar Mohammad Khan Afridi and Niaz Mohammad and other led the protesters here at Sher Shah Suri Road. Addressing on the occasion, they said that the provincial government has fixed Rs 96 car stand fee for Peshawar while the stop contractors collecting heavy amount of Rs 300 fee from Torkham and flying coaches and 2D cars which is totally injustice with them.

They added that transports contributing billion of rupees tax in national exchequer and million of people are engaged with the transport profession. They said that this heavy burden of taxes would effect their employment and the transports would be forced to quit this profession.

They demanded of the government to cancel the contract of those contractors who are collecting heavy fee from these transporters.

They also threatened that if their demands were not heeded, they would hold a wheel jam strike and sit-in in front of Chief Minister House.
