CDA should not tease foreign missions in Islamabad: Shujaat

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD - PML-Q President and former Prime Minister Ch Shujaat Hussain has condemned teasing of the foreign missions by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Islamabad for shifting from present premises and said that that without giving the embassies plots in the diplomatic enclave this step is highly deplorable and condemnable.
Ch Shujat Hussain said in a statement that about 60 per cent employees including senior officers of CDA own two houses at least in Islamabad, out of which they reside in one and have rented out other, whereas there are also such employees who have rented out their own houses and themselves are residing in official residences but there is none to question them whereas there is no reasonable justification for unnecessarily teasing foreign missions for shifting from residential areas.
He further said that in foreign countries Pakistani Embassies are working in residential areas. He said after this illegal pressure of CDA, the foreign Embassies have got no other immediate solution than stop working in Islamabad or establish their Embassies in some other cities.
Ch Shujat Hussain said that the government should allot plots to all these foreign Embassies and then given them appropriate time for construction of buildings and till then they should be allowed to continue working at present premises.
