Islamabad - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has served show cause notices on the contractors, who had been awarded the road repair works in different parts of the capital city, over unsatisfactory work, it has been learnt.

Sources in the CDA said that different contractors were separately awarded road repair works worth Rs 1.45 billion including the one ZKB Associates but the lab tests proved the quality of work was below the prescribed standards.

After serving the show cause notices, the contractors have been asked to stop the work. The sources said that the CDA high-ups have summoned the contractors at the main office today (Thursday) so that they could explain their position.

They said cracks had started appearing even during the repair work which compelled the CDA high-ups to take notice of the same.

Meanwhile, the officials of Islamabad police have been directed to adopt zero tolerance policy against corruption and ensure secret monitoring of policemen performing duties at the pickets.

It was stated by the SSP Islamabad, Sajid Kiani while addressing the officials and employees of the Islamabad police at National Library here yesterday. The SSP said that corruption at police picket is intolerable and no relaxation would be given to those who are involved in such practices and brining bad name to the department.

He directed all police employees to adopt polite attitude towards public and ensure effective checking of suspects.

Kiani directed for adopting vibrant strategy at the pickets and remain vigilant during checking process. He asked all SPs, SDPOs and SHOs to brief their staff deputed at police pickets and ensure their efficient performance there. He said that cases would be registered against policemen involved in corruption. The SSP said that it is prime responsibly of the police to ensure protection to the lives and property of citizens.
