Islamabad - Non-bailable arrest warrants were issued on Saturday for National Testing Service Director Dr Haroon Rashid in money laundering and tax evasion case.

According to the details, Special Judge Custom Shiraz Kiyani heard money laundering and tax evasion case against the NTS in Rawalpindi as officials of the service including Dr Izhar Hussain, Dr Sohail and others appeared before the court.

During the hearing, Directorate Intelligence and Investigation of the Inland Revenue department of the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) submitted an application in the court that during an investigation, it was found that the suspects had concealed 15 bank accounts and the total amount of money laundered had increased from Rs2 billion to Rs3.6 billion. It was requested that the court allow the accounts and the NTS building to be sealed. The court accepted the applications and issued notices.

Five of the six suspects in the case, Dr Junaid Zaidi, Izhar Hussain, Sohail Ghani, Dr Shahid Ahmed and Dr Sherzada Khan submitted an amount of Rs100,000 as bail in the court. However, for not appearing before the court, a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against Dr Haroon Rasheed.

The court ordered that the accused should be arrested and presented before the court on January 30.
