Islamabad - CPO Rawalpindi Israr Ahmed Abbasi following the orders of IG Punjab formed teams to combine and investigate all pending cases pertaining to abduction and rape of minor girls.

According to details, Rawalpindi police have deputed special investigation teams under supervision of deputy superintendents in every police station of the district for registration of fresh cases and disposal of the pending cases involving abduction and rape of minor girls.

A Superintendent of Police (SP) will directly monitor the performance and outcome of the teams.

The CPO instructed all police stations to immediately register fresh cases as well as compile record of all pending cases regarding minor girls’ abduction and sexual abuse.

The Rawalpindi police have reportedly been registering missing reports instead of FIRs of abduction to avert pressure of higher authorities and public for disposal and investigation of the abduction and rape cases.

However, now the police have started sorting out record of all such cases and incidents in pursuance of recent instructions.

Recently, one such case emerged in Kasur district of Punjab, which sensitised general public and the authorities about the issue. In the past, similar cases had also been reported from Kasur and other areas of the country.
