LAHORE - A dedicated worker of Jamaat-i-Islami,  Ch Safdar Ali, passed away Saturday after protracted illness. He was 76. He had been suffering from diabetes for the last several years.

Ch Safdar Ali joined the JI in 1967 when its founder Mualana Syed Abul Ala Maudoodi was its chief.

He was associated with the media section of the JI. He was highly popular among the journalists. He devoted all his entire life for the service of religion and the JI. JI chief Sirajul Haq, former chief Syed Munawar Hasan and other leaders including Ch Rehmat Elahi, Ch Aslam Saleemi, Hafiz Idrees, Prof Ibrahim, Asadulah Bhutto, Rashid Naseem, Mian  Aslam, Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, Liaqat Baloch, Muhammad Asghar, Syed Waqas Jafery, Azhar Iqbal Hasan, Hafiz Sajid Anwar, Khalid Rahman, Maulana Abdul Malik, Amirul Azeem, Anwar Niazi and Qaiser Sharif expressed deep  grief over the demise of Ch Safdar Ali.  In a joint statement , they paid rich tributes to late Ch Safdar and said that the deceased was associated with the JI from his youth and devoted all his life for the service of Islam. 

They prayed for the departed soul.
