KARACHI - The rulers of Sindh have failed to deliver, leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club (KPC) on Saturday.

They said that Sindh rulers did not serve the masses and they would criticise the PTI if it raises voice for people’s rights.

PTI Sindh Senior Executive Vice President Haleem Adil Sheikh, MPA Khuram Sherzaman, Jameel Ahmed Khan, Jay Parakash Ukrani, Jameela Baloch and others said that corruption and mismanagement in Sindh were on the rise. They said that rulers did not deliver and they would start character assassination if someone tries to serves the masses.

Haleem Adil Sheikh said that people, police and a local MPA caught watchman of a private school in Ibrahim Hyderi on Friday for allegedly attempting sexual assault on a schoolgirl. He said the watchman was lying on the floor in the office of the principal in injured condition. “A mob outside the school wanted to burn him alive, while the police was not ready to shift him to the police station,” he said. He said that he, on humanitarian grounds, saved life of the watchman and got him shifted to the police station in a police van, but his opponents presented this act in a negative way. He said the PTI leader in the Ibrahim Hyderi area Jameela Baloch had informed him of the angry mob and he rushed to the scene. He said five cases of mob attack were reported in Karachi in the last week but the local police failed to arrest any of the accused.

Sheikh said a minor girl was kidnapped and molested in Ibrahim Hyderi last year and later her molesters threw her at an abandoned place in a seriously injured condition. He said that politicians issued statements and the court took suo motu notice of the incident, but her family has yet to get justice.

Sheikh said that PTI would open a special cell to record such cases in Sindh and provide all-out assistance to the affected people. He said “we believe in service and will continue to serve the masses”.

On this occasion, father of the victim girl told the media that his daughter was molested and seriously injured last year, but the accused have not been punished yet. He said that police had yet to arrest the culprits. He said that incumbent rulers had failed to dispense him justice so far.

Had Sheikh not intervened and sent the watchman to the police station on Friday, Sherzaman said, the angry mob would have lynched him. He said the victim girl had been waiting for justice for one year. He said such cases were being reported in every part of Sindh, but the rulers were only interested in getting the Sindh Police inspector general transferred. He praised the chief justice for taking suo motu notice of rape and murder of seven years old Zainab in the Kasur District in Punjab. He said such cases were a source of income for the police. He said the government in Sindh had failed to protect lives and properties of citizens. He said billions of rupees had been spent on the Sindh Assembly and every facility, including beauty parlours, was being set up for the members. He said the speaker would invite the women members to his chamber when they highlight issues of the general public. He said a senior minister in the Sindh Assembly always opposed every business of private members for welfare of people. He said this senior minister was perhaps getting salary for opposing the opposition members.
