SARGODHA - A minor girl escaped a rape attempt by raising alarms here in the suburbs of Shahpur on Saturday.

According to police source s, six-year-old Sania, a student of Class-I, was trapped by an alleged rapist in Shahpur. The accused identified as Mumtaz took the minor to a cattle-pen where he attempted to assault her. But she put up resistance and raised alarms, which attracted some passersby who entered the cattle-pen and foiled the attempt. The accused, however, managed to flee the scene while the locals informed the police about the incident. The police have launched investigation. Meanwhile, the police claimed to have arrested two suspects, involved in the murder of 16-year-old girl Sajjida Parveen at Tasawarabad in Tehsil Bhalwal two days ago. Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, DPO Sohail Chaudhry claimed that one of the suspects -Amin was desirous of marriage with Sajjida and on her refusal murdered her with the help of his accomplice Ahmed Yar. He said that the police arrested both accused persons and further investigation is underway.
