Islamabad - The Rangers along with the police carried out search operations in various localities of the federal capital on Saturday and arrested two suspects, said a police spokesman.

The detainees were shifted to police station for further interrogation, he said.

According to the spokesman, personnel of the Rangers and Islamabad police conducted door-to-door search operation in different parts of the federal capital to purge the city from suspects. He said that the law enforcement agencies checked a total of 180 houses and interrogated around 240 persons.

During the operation, he said, the police took two suspects into custody as they failed to prove their identities. Later, the suspects were shifted to police station for investigation.

SSP (Operations) Islamabad Sajid Kiyani said that the forces were combing the federal capital areas. He said that the purpose of conducting search operations was to improve law and order situation in Islamabad.

He said that the police and other law enforcement agencies were committed to kick out suspects and anti-social elements from the city.

Meanwhile, two persons sustained bullet injuries after a gun battle broke out between two groups in Sector I-8/3 of the federal capital. Rescue 1122 moved the injured to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for treatment.

According to a police officer, reason behind the armed clash between two parties was old enmity. He said that the condition of the injured men was stated to be in danger. Police are investigating the matter, he said.
