Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Central Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira Sunday said that the PPP Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari will be a part of Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s (PAT) nationwide protest.

“We will participate wholeheartedly in the PAT protest,” the PPP Punjab president remarked while speaking to media in Gujranwala.

PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri announced on January 8 a countrywide protest movement against the Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML-N) government’s alleged role in the 2014 Model Town incident.

The announcement came after the deadline given by the PAT-led All Parties Conference seeking the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah expired on January 7.

While commenting on the alleged role of Punjab chief minister in the 2014 Model Town incident Kaira said, “Shehbaz should first face the cases against him and then dream of becoming the next prime minister.”

On Thursday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan had also announced to join Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) protest from January 18 onwards.
