KARACHI - Six people were shot dead in the target-killing incidents here in different parts of the city on Tuesday. In the first incident, armed culprits shot two men dead near Lassania Restaurant when they were passing through Rashid Minhas Road in a car. The area where this incident took place in the early hours of afternoon comes under the jurisdiction of Shahra-e-Faisal Police. Following the incident, local police and ambulances of different welfare associations rushed the spot and shifted the victims to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). The victims were identified as Amjad, 30, son of Ashiq Hussain and Fayyaz alias Kala, 28, son of Ibrahim. Sources at the JPMC medico-legal section said that the victims had sustained multiple bullets. They, however, said that Amjad had died on the spot while Fayyaz succumbed to his wounds in the hospital. Shah Faisal SP Tanveer Alam Odho said that it was a target-killing incident and the culprits were on a motorcycle while had used 9mm pistols in the crime. He said the victims were affiliated with the Punjabi Pakhtun Ittehad (PPI), adding that Amjad was the partys president of Shah Faisal wing. Both were the residents of Kehkashan Society in Al-Falah. Fayyaz was a student of third year whereas Amjad was scheduled to leave the country for Germany in August. Tension spread in Kehkashan Society, Green Town and surrounding areas and shops were closed down after the incident. In another incident, an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement students wing, who was a doctor by profession, was killed in the Al-Falah police precincts. The police officials said the incident occurred when Dr Irfan, son of Ghulam Sandhani was sitting at his clinic Shahab located near to his house in Afshan Town when two unidentified bike-riders shot him dead. SP Tanveer Alam Odho said the deceased was the PPOC Unit-7 In-charge in Al-Falah, adding that he was the father of four children. Panic gripped Millat Town, Azeem Pura and Asfahan Town after the incident. Meanwhile, Pakistan Medical Association President Idrees Edhi condemned the incident demanding the government to provide security to the medical practitioners. Meanwhile, a former policeman was killed in the remit of Orangi Town Police. DSP Abdul Majeed Abbas said that Shahzad, son of Hafeez was killed on the wee hours of Tuesday, when he was standing near his house unidentified armed men arrived and open fires at him, resultantly he died instantly. The police shifted his body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) were doctors pronounced him death, the DSP added. He said the victim was sacked from the police service and that personal enmity might be the cause behind the murder. The victim was the father of two children. There were some unconfirmed reports that the victim was also affiliated with the Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) but the DSP denied his affiliation with any political party. In another incident of target-killing a property dealer was killed and his servant sustained wounds in the limits of Surjani Police. SHO Atif Khan said the victim 32-year-old Wajahat alias Wajjo was a resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal. He arrived at Sector 10-A near Khan Coach Bus stop along with his servant namely Kashif Aslam in his car. Suddenly two motorcyclists came there and open indiscriminate firing at them, resultantly Wajahat died on the spot while Kashif sustained bullet injuries. The culprits managed to escape from the scene. The police shifted the body and injured to ASH for legal formalities and medical treatment. The police said the victim had no affiliation with any political parties. However, no case was registered till filing of the report Separately, a young man was gunnes The police said that 25-year-old-Abid, a resident of Sector-5K Bilal Colony, was shot dead by muggers when he tried to over power them while snatching his motorcycle. The muggers escaped from the scene with the snatched motorcycle. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities and handed over to the heirs. No case was registered filling of this story.
