ISLAMABAD (APP) - A leading scholar of the Muslim world and former President of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), Dr Ahmad Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Asal passed away in Egypt. He was 84. His funeral was held at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, in Cairo, Egypt. Dr Ahmed Al-Asal got his Doctorate from Al-Azhar and served different educational institutions of the Muslim world, including Muhammad Bin Saood Islamic University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and the International Islamic University, Islamabad. He was one of founding fathers of the International Islamic University, Islamabad. He remained its Vice-President, Advisor and President for many years (1986-2002). Prof Fateh Muhammad Malik Rector IIUI, Dr Anwar Hussain Siddiqui President IIUI, Dr Zafar Ishaq Ansari and Ms Parveen Qadir Agha Vice President IIUI expressed their grief over the demise of Dr Al-Asal. They prayed to Allah Almighty to place the departed soul in eternal peace.
