LAHORE - Four people including a woman died in separate road accidents in various parts of the City here on Tuesday. In the first incident, a 22-year-old motorcyclist was crushed to death by a speeding truck in Shahdara area. The deceased identified as Salman was a resident of Shahdara Town. Police said that Salman was on his way back to home on his motorbike when the truck hit his bike. He sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. However, the truck driver managed to escape from the crime scene. The police have shifted the body to morgue for autopsy after the registration of a case against the unknown truck driver. In the second incident, a 45-year-old man died when a rashly-driven truck hit him in Nawankot area. The deceased was identified as Muhammad Hafeez, a resident of Ferozpur Road. Police said that Hafeez was standing beside the main road on his bike when the truck hit him. He received fatal injuries. Some locals of the area rushed him to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries. The police have registered a case against the unknown truck driver with no arrest so far. The body was shifted to morgue for autopsy. In the third incident, a 40-year-old man was crushed to death by a speeding car in Kahna area. Police said that the deceased identified as Rahmat was crossing a road when the car hit him. He died without receiving any medical treatment. In the fourth incident, a commercial van ran over a 30-year-old man in Harbanspura area. The deceased was identified as Shahbaz, a resident of Taj Bagh. In the fifth incident, a 36-year-old woman was crushed to death by a rashly-driven car in Factory Area police limits. The deceased was identified as Najma Bibi. 70-year-old man dies as roof caves in A 70-year-old man died when the roof of his house collapsed in Factory Area here on Tuesday. The deceased identified as Ismail was father of eight children. Police said that Ismail was present in the living room when the roof caved in. He sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. The police maintained that none of his family members were present in the house at that time. The body was handed over to the heirs after necessary legal requirements. TWO youths attempt suicide Two youths attempted suicide in the City here on Tuesday. Twenty-year-old Muddasar Abbas, a resident of Jinnah Park, Ghalib Market, took poisonous pills over a petty family row. The family, however, rushed him to a nearby hospital where the doctors saved his life by providing him timely medical treatment. In another incident, a 35-year-old poverty-stricken youth swallowed poisonous pills over a family dispute. He was immediately shifted to a hospital where his condition was told to be stable.
