Loadshedding causing loss to country, says Baloch

QUETTA - Regretting over unabated loadshedding in Balochistan, central leader of PML-N and Member of National Assembly, General (Retd)Abdul Qadir Baloch has said that it had caused irreparable loss to economy of Balochistan and badly damaged agriculture sector. He expressed these views while addressing a joint Press conference alongwith Provincial Chief Organiser Khuda-e-Noor here on Tuesday. He said that requirement of power in Balochistan was about 2,000 megawatt while it was only getting 650 to 800 megawatt from national grid which was insufficient. He said that Balochistan was producing 2,000 megawatt electricity from different plants and proposed that 220 KV transmission line of Ouch Power Plant should be directly linked to Sibi. 'This step can minimise the power shortage of the province, he added. Baloch welcomed the provincial governments step for allocating Rs 12 to 15 billion for investment and said that if government lays a new transmission line and allocate Rs 8,800 million from said amount than power crisis could be resolved. 'Keeping in view the situation, for the time being provincial government should give this amount to QESCO for laying a new transmission line from Dera Murad Jamali to Sibi, he added. Responding to a question about deteriorating law and order situation of Balochistan, PML-N leader said that extra judicial arrests, target killings and kidnappings for ransom were not good for the security of the country and democracy and PML-N had always condemned perpetrators of these crimes. 'We also condemn injustice on the part of State, he added. He regretted over approval of resolution against media in Punjab Assembly, saying holding PML-N alone responsible for this was not right and said PML-Q and PPP should also hold their members accountable as they had also supported the resolution.
