LAHORE The boycott of the proceedings of the Punjab Assembly by electronic as well as print media continued for the 5th day (Tuesday) as no journalist entered the Press Gallery for coverage. A large number of journalists gathered on the PA premises to protest against the anti-media resolution tabled in the PA by treasury benches MPA Sanaullah Mastikhel Friday last, accusing media of being irresponsible and playing anti-democratic role. The media men stayed on the PA premises for more than three hours after the PA session started at 12: 15 pm. Punjab Assembly Press Gallery President Zaheer Shahzad, General Secretary Shumaila Jaffery and Lahore Press Club Vice-President Aamer Waqas Chaudhry led the boycott against the anti-media resolution of the Assembly. Meanwhile, the news of a pro-media resolution to be tabled by the treasury benches was ripe but the journalists representatives announced to reject all such moves as were made without their consultation and participation. They also demanded of the CPNE, APNS and TVs not to cover the news items regarding PA members. The journalist also refused to dialogue with the leaders of PML-N Pervaiz Rasheed and Rana Sanaullah who came for negotiation during the protest and said there is no use of dialogues until the resolution was not taken back by the House.
