LAHORE - Fisheries Department Punjab and University of Veterinary and Animal Science (UVAS) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote fisheries and aquaculture in the province The main purpose of this bonding is to establish collaboration in order to promote activities for research in the field of Fisheries & Aquaculture and Research Laboratories & Libraries of both parties will be accessible to each other. In this regard, a memorandum of understanding was signed by Secretary Forestry, Wildlife & Fisheries, Babar Hassan Bharwana, Vice Chancellor UVAS Dr Muhammad Nawaz, Director General Fisheries, Punjab, Dr Muhammad Ayub and Dean Faculty of Fisheries & Wildlife Dr Talat Nazir Pasha. Directors of Fisheries Department and other concerned officers were also present on this occasion. Director General Fisheries Dr. Muhammad Ayub while giving details in this regard told that Department of Fisheries & UVAS, would jointly initiate one year diploma course and Department of Fisheries would send students or department employees for seeking higher education leading M. Phill & Ph D to UVAS. He said that the experts and scientist of Department of Fisheries relating to practically teaching and research at UVAS & Fisheries Research & Training Institute would be entitled for their children to all concession and provisional regarding tuition fee as already entitled to the faculty members of the UVAS. He also added that Department of Fisheries would only provide internship facilities to those students who would be in their last semester of 4 years BS (Hons) programme. The infrastructure facilities would be open to them where they can get practical training in processes, procedures and technologies currently practiced in Department of Fisheries to strengthen their professional skills.
