LAHORE - Human Rights Society of Pakistan Chairman Senator SM Zafar has called for turning the bogus degree holders out of the Parliament as they have no right to represent the masses when their own character is not clear. Addressing a meeting here Tuesday, Zafar held the bogus degree holders as offender in terms of law and morality for which they must be penalized. He urged the Election Commission of Pakistan and Higher Education Commission to scrutinise the degrees of parliamentarians without accepting pressure from any side and that the government must also suspend the membership of those members whose degrees were doubtful. He said that such cases should be examined through the court of law. He also demanded exposure of the secret hands which helped produce the bogus degrees. He also expressed solidarity with the media on the question of Punjab Assembly resolution against it. The meeting was also attended by Mahnaz Rafi, Gen (retd) K.M.Shakoori,. Ch Bashir Ahmad, Prof Hamayun Ehsan, and Adeeb Jawdani. 'N resolution has no legal standing: PML-Q The PML-N has passed a fake resolution regarding media, as it does not possess the number for passing the resolution, claims Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Ch Zaheerud Din. He was talking to media men outside the Punjab Assembly here on Tuesday. Zaheer claimed that the PML-N adopted the resolution regarding media despite lack of quorum and that was why the resolution was forged. He said that opposition member, Amir Sultan Cheema pointed out lack of quorum on which he was suspended for 15 days. He said that PML-Q senior leader Ch Pervaiz Elahis support to media against anti-media resolution had compelled the provincial government to bow before the media, while the resolution passed without lack of quorum had no legal standing. He demanded that the provincial government should bring resolution regarding media in the House after completing the required number to pass it and objectionable speeches of MPs against the media should be expunged. Zaheer said that PML-N had announced to throw out Sanaullah Mastikhel from the provincial assembly but they instead of throwing Mastikhel out were backing him. He said that opposition had submitted resolution in favour of media but they were not allowed to move the resolution in the House. He alleged that supporters of terrorists had took hostage the entire system but the opposition would continue its efforts for exposing the real face of the rulers of the Punjab through media.
