MIRPUR (AJK) - Azad Jammu & Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudry Abdul Majeed on Friday paid glowing tribute to the martyrs of 1931 people’s uprising against the autocratic Dogra rule.
Addressing a Kashmir Martyrs Day ceremony held in Muzaffarabad, the AJ&K Premier said the glorious history of Kashmir reminded us of our ancestors who stood up against oppression and tyranny and continued struggle for freedom. “The people of Kashmir have always been in struggle against oppressive forces and sacrificed their lives for nation and we salute all those who sacrificed for the sacred cause”, he added.
The AJK PM stated that his government was the representative of the Kashmiris and more than 14 million people of Kashmir showed not only solidarity with the martyrs but also revealed to the international community what Kashmiris were together for their just cause of freedom.
“The subjugated and downtrodden Kashmiris’ revolt in 1931 set a path for generations to come not to follow a tyrant ruler. Hence the Kashmiris way to freedom started and international community should comprehend that the people of Kashmir would never accept Indian rule on their sacred land”, he observed.
Ch Majeed extended humble gratitude to the people and government of Pakistan for unrelenting political, diplomatic and moral support, saying that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have not only rendered unprecedented sacrifices since long for their birth right to self-determination but also to accomplish their will to be a part of Pakistan after complete freedom from India. “Kashmiris consider Pakistan their ultimate destination: Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto declared to fight for thousand years for Kashmir, Shaheed BB gave Kashmiris a status of observer in OIC and the present government in Pakistan forced India to reinitiate the meaningful dialogue on Kashmir”, he maintained.
He also announced to give award to the former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gellani for his untiring efforts to project Kashmir cause across the globe, saying he was ousted from power but would always remain Prime Minister in the hearts of the workers of PPP.
The AJK PM  also thanked the leader of opposition Raja Farooq Haider for his cooperation to get the recent budget approved unopposed in the house, adding that he received calls from Hurriat leadership from Indian Occupied Kashmir for attaining mutual harmony on issue of national interests.
“ I am taking all political forces on board on Kashmir Issue and in constant touch with Hurriat leadership in Srinagar so that a comprehensive and compact strategy could be devised on this crucial moment of freedom movement by mutual understanding”, he maintained. “Kashmir Martyrs Day is observed every year on July 13 to commemorate the day in 1931, when 21 Kashmiris made supreme sacrifice of their lives for the supreme cause of freedom of Kashmir from the clutches of despotic Dogra rulers.
