Qaim for drafting Local Govt Law

KARACHI - Sindh government on Friday announced to extend period of two months in transition time to implement the local government law. In this regard, a committee, comprising of Secretary Local Government, Secretary Finance and Secretary Law, was constituted which will streamline the issues and submit its report within two months.This decision was taken at a high level meeting here on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the CM House. The meeting was attended by Minister Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, Minister Local Government Agha Siraj Durrani, Minister Information Sharjeel Enam Memon, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muahmmad Abbas, Special Secretary Finance, Secretary Local Govt, Secretary Law department, Managing Director STEVTA & Special Secretary to CM and others.The meeting discussed the present position of issues with regard to transition matters of Sindh Local Government department. The meeting was informed that after the end of period of SLGO-2001, original Local Government System was restored with transition period. It was also informed Sindh Local Government Act-2012 is under active consideration and it is expected that soon the draft law will be finalized with consensus. The meeting discussed issues pertaining to salaries, development schemes and other matters. The chief minister stressed that the draft system be finalised which could be acceptable to people and could deliver. Qaim stressed that the issue of SLG Act must be resolved soon, and could provide relief to the people.ALTAF CONDEMNS ATTACK ON ANP RALLY: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the bomb blast outside the venue of the ANP public meeting in Kuchlak area of Quetta in Balochistan. He expressed his grief and sorrow over the deaths of ANP workers in the blast and sympathised with the injured. He said that the terrorist elements involved in the blast want to create instability and unrest in the country. He offered his condolences to the leaders and workers of the ANP and the family members of the people who lost their lives in the blast. He prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace. He demanded President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Federal Interior Advisor Rehman Malik and Balochistan Chief Minister Aslam Raisani to take serious notice of the blast and bring the perpetrator to book.
