Islamabad- The Federal Government has constituted 4,000 teams to administer anti-polio drops to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency.

The teams will visit houses and camps of the IDPs and vaccinate them against the crippling disease. According to FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA), the polio immunization campaign has been launched in six districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Kark and Tank.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has also contributed in the efforts of the federation to provide relief to the IDPs and provided ration and other facilities for the displaced persons.  It is pertinent to mention here that after the launch of Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan, the IDPs continue to arrive in different districts of KP, increasing risk of polio epidemic in the cities.
