Allama Syed Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi, a renowned scholar and member Council of the Islamic Ideology (CII), Government of Pakistan has donated his one month salary for Dams Construction Fund.

In a letter to the Chairman CII, Dr Qibla Ayaz, Allama Iftikhar Naqvi said that Pakistan is facing acute shortage of water due to wrong policies of rulers of the country. The future of Pakistan can be protected only by preserving water resources for generations to come.

He appreciated the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Saqib Nisar for taking initiative for construction of two dams. Allama Naqvi added that Pakistan is under pressure of foreign debts. Now, we have to overcome this situation by voluntary donations, said Naqvi. 

Religious scholars also criticized flawed economic policies, corruption and loot of the national resources by rulers and politicians.

He said that the rulers had managed to become richer whereas poor segments of the society have become more vulnerable to increasing poverty. He also suggested that a special campaign to get rid of foreign loans should be launched.
