Abid, Muzamil breeze into New Khan Punjab Open Tennis semis

LAHORE - Muhammad Abid, Muzamil Murtaza, Mudassar Murtaza and Heera Ashiq qualified for the semifinals of the New Khan Punjab Open Tennis Championship 2021, which is in progress here at Punjab Tennis Academy, Bagh-e-Jinnah. 

In the men’s singles quarterfinals, Muhammad Abid played superb tennis against Hassan Riaz and never allowed his opponent to earn even a single point and won the match 6-0, 6-0. In other quarterfinals, Muzamil Murtaza faced some resistance before recording victory against Imran Bhatti with a score of 6-4, 6-3. Mudassar Murtaza played well against Irfan Mughal and outpaced him 6-1, 6-1 and seasoned campaigner Heera Ashiq had to struggle hard to beat spirited Nalain Abbas 4-6, 6-2, 10-2. 

In the men’s doubles quarterfinals, Muzamil Murtaza/Mudassar Murtaza outlasted the pair of Aqeel Sarfraz and Shayan Tariq 6-3, 6-4, Imran Bhatti/Hamza Jawad overcame the talented pair of Nalain Abbas and Shaeel Durab 7-6, 6-2 while Irfan Mughal/Hassan Shaukat toppled the pair of Hassan Riaz and Yousaf 6-2, 6-2. In the boys U-18 quarterfinals, Ahtesham Arif defeated Muneeb Majeed 8-5, Hamza Jawad thrashed Aized Khalil 8-0, Arman Kamran outsmarted Zaeem Ghafoor 8-3 and Asad Zaman outclassed Ryan Munsif Khan 8-0. 

In the boys/girls U-14 quarterfinals, talented Nabeel Ali Qayum trounced Eesa Bilal 8-0, emerging tennis player Amna Ali Qayum continued her good show and overwhelmed Abubakar Khalil 8-0, promising Zohaib Afzal Malik outlasted Abdur Rehman Pirzada 8-2, Asad Zaman (McDonald’s) thrashed Inam Bari 8-0, Xeerak Mustafa struggled hard to beat Aalay Husnain 8-6, M Sohaan Noor outsmarted Talha Tarar 8-2 and Abdullah Pirzada outpaced Abdur Rehman 8-2.
