IG Islamabad visits Traffic HQs

ISLAMABAD - Inspector General of Police (IGP) Qazi Jamil Ur Rehman said that Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) would be equipped on modern lines to ensure efficient policing and quality services to people.

He said the top priority of the traffic police is to facilitate road users by all means.

IG Islamabad Qazi Jamil Ur Rehman expressed these views during his visit to ITP headquarters where he distributed 250 mobile tabs among police officers for issuance of digital challans. 

Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Syed Karar Hussain briefed the IGP about steps being taken to equip on modern lines. The IGP said that various steps including upgradation of software for driving license, e-ticketing system and repair of one-window hall at traffic office would be helpful to ensure efficient policing and provide quality services to people. 

The SSP (Traffic) said that various seminars are being arranged to inform citizens about traffic rules, enhance liaison with citizens and ensure traffic discipline in the city. The SP (Traffic) and other senior police officials were also present on the occasion. 

The IGP directed SSP (Traffic) to introduce more digital reforms in policing affairs through coordination of JS Bank. He said that police officials should also be trained about use of this technology so that citizens could be facilitated to maximum level.  

Islamabad police chief also directed to take comprehensive steps to check violations of traffic rules and ensure use of seat belts and helmets by road-users. He said that lane discipline should also be ensured and strict action be taken against those using tinted glass vehicles and fancy number plates.  

The IGP directed traffic police officials to check the duties of policemen themselves and brief them about friendly policing measures and decent attitude with citizens. 

He stressed the need to equip traffic police on modern lines so that prompt action can be taken in case of any violation.
