I was invited for dinner by a colleague who is a British-born Pakistani. An Indian Muslim doctor was also a guest there. The conversation drifted towards what was happening in Pakistan. The Indian doctor said something that made me feel very small. He said: "When leaders of a country start buying properties outside the country and their children get educated and stay abroad, the people should know there is something seriously wrong with the country which these leaders know but are not telling the people. In India, it is unheard of that even the most corrupt leader would acquire a property anywhere abroad. You Pakistanis should seriously start asking your leadership that what do they know that you don't". -AYAZ AHMAD, Rawalpindi Cantt., via e-mail, May 31.
