The final merit order list of CSS 2008 candidates was released on 11th March, 2009. More than two months have passed since then but the allocations of service groups have not been announced. After the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) released the merit list, it took the Establishment Division more than three weeks to accord the number of vacancies to the commission. As is apparent, it was ensured that the then Chairman FPSC, Lt-Gen. (Retd) Shahid Hameed retires on 1st April without announcing the allocations. More than a month has elapsed since the retirement of the previous chairman. Yet the presidency has been unable to find any suitable candidate for the post. People are being apprehensive of this delay in announcement of allocations. The President is therefore requested to appoint any suitable person as the new Chairman of FPSC as soon as possible. Care must be taken that whoever is appointed, upholds merit and maintains the reputation of the organization as a fair and transparent body.-CSS 2008 QUALIFIER, via e-mail, June 13.
