ISLAMABAD-The government has allocated Rs 2.25 billion total budget for the Ministry of Environment under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for fiscal year 2009-10 that is two times higher than the budgetary allocation of the outgoing fiscal year. The Environment Ministry had asked the government to allocate Rs 4.23 billion total budget for the fiscal year 2009-10,including Rs 4.02 billion for 42 ongoing projects, whereas Rs 200 million had been sought for 13 new schemes. However, the government allocated Rs 2.25 billion under PSDP for Environment Division in the budget for next financial year (2009-10). This time the budgetary allocation for the current fiscal year is double the allocation of the out-going financial year that was Rs 1.14 billion.
