The 2014 Men’s Hockey World Cup which is held at the Kyocera Stadium in The Hague, Netherlands is now in semi-final stages. It is sad to see that Pakistan, who won the most Hockey World Cup (four), did not qualify. The Hockey World Cup was first conceived by Pakistan’s Air Marshal Nur Khan. He proposed the idea to the FIH (International Hockey Federation). But now it looks as though those who are working in Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) are not interested in developing the game and maintaining the level which Pakistan hockey team maintained for so many years. It will be great for Pakistan hockey if government, media and multinational companies come forward and do something for the national game.
