ISLAMABAD : Veteran Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Geelani has demanded immediate release of all illegally detained Hurriyet leaders and activists. According to KMS, Geelani said the detainees including Masarrat Aalam Butt, Mushtaqul Islam, Amir Hamza, Muhammad Altaf Khan and Nasir Abdullah were all political leaders and their continued detention was undemocratic and uncalled for.
The veteran leader condemned the slapping of draconian law, Public Safety Act, on Hurriyet leader, Muhammad Altaf Khan, and his shifting to Kupwara sub-jail from Srinagar's Parimpora Police Station. He pointed out that the misuse of this law had happened in Omar Abdullah's rule and in last six years hundreds of innocent people and students were detained under PSA.
Geelani appealed to the international human rights organisations to take notice of the application of this cruel law and impress upon New Delhi to repeal it.
