Rawalpindi - The Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) arranged a group calligraphy exhibition at its art gallery in connection with the sacred month of Ramazan yesterday.

The young artists who put on display their works were Neelofar Raja, Usman Mirza, Shah Nawaz, Lubna Khatoon, Muhammad Ali Imran, Muhammad Shakil Tabassum, Saif Ali, Humayon Khan, Zarfishan Fawad, Razia Shabbir, Muhammad Imran, Humayon Kamran, Fazal Muhammad, Zafar-ul-Haq, Sajid Ali Sipra, Muhammad Israr, Sayadullah, Asma Younis, Imran, Salah-ud-Din Safdar, Mazhar Shahzad and Amna Latif. MNA Tahira Aurangzeb flanked by Naheed Manzoor and Resident Director RAC Waqar Ahmed inaugurated the exhibition.

A number of calligraphy fanciers, artists, students from different art institutions visited the gallery. The artists coloured oil on canvas calligraphy and water colour caught the attention of the viewers at first glance. More than 50 art pieces were put on display. MNA Tahira Aurangzeb addressing the inaugural ceremony said that it is a lovely exhibition and one finds in it a great innovation when it comes to usage of different khats (styles of calligraphy).”

Naheed Manzoor said that the exhibition is a fine combination of traditional and contemporary calligraphies while the works of artists have a taste of their own.

Resident Director RAC Waqar Ahmed thanking all the participants said that the exhibition has a lot to offer in terms of experimental work, new ideas and usage of khats.

The exhibition would continue till June 18.
