FIFA World Cup: Pakistani flag to be waved at opening ceremony

Pakistani flag will be waved at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Moscow, Russia, despite of the fact that Pakistan have never been able made it to the quadrennial international football tournament. 

Football for Friendship programme coordinator, Fahad Khan, told that a footballer from Dera Ismail Khan, Sarang Baloch, will wave Pakistan’s flag at the opening ceremony.  

Sarang Baloch is the FIFA-sponsored programme's Young Ambassador .

Baloch said, "It is an honour for me to be Pakistan’s flag-bearer at the mega-event."

The opening match of FIFA World Cup 2018 will be played between the host Russia and Saudi Arabia at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.

The opening ceremony will start at 7:30pm PST (3:30pm BST), just 30 minutes before the opening game.

The opening event will focus on a series of musical acts, with Robbie Williams headlining.

Around 500 dancers, gymnasts and trampolinists will also be performing in an opening event.
