DCO Noorul Amin Mengal has warned the government officers that if dengue larva is found on any govt office premises, criminal cases will be got registered against the officers, in-charge respectively. Similarly, punitive action will also be taken against the persons concerned in case of dengue larva is located in private factory, commercial buildings, tyre shops, junkyards, nurseries and other places.

He was presiding over a meeting held here to review dengue control measures in the district.  The DCO told that emergency had been declared across the district in connection with anti-dengue drive.

He directed the officers of all departments concerned to pull up their socks for taking measures of controlling the dengue larva. He warned that there was no room for slackness regarding preventive measures against dengue.

The DCO advised that a comprehensive directory pertaining to details and information of junkyard, graveyards, tyre shops, nurseries, water bodies and other possible sites of dengue breeding should be maintained and proper surveillance should be carried out regularly to eliminate sources of dengue breeding.  He stressed that special attention should be focused on the larvaciding measures and directed launching awareness campaign to sensitize citizens to the threat of dengue.

He directed the Health Department and TMAs officials to check the entire machinery for the spray and certificate to the effect of its functional should be provided to the district administration.  Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Anti-Dengue Programme Coordinator Dr Wasim Akram said that joint efforts should be made to control dengue larva breeding.
