BAHAWALPUR -  A 520-acre land in Aman Garh near Rahim Yar Khan has been selected for the establishment of the Engineering University and IT University.

A delegation from Lahore Engineering and Technology University visited the district for this purpose. It consisted of Project Director Mian Shahid Lateef, Engineering and Technology University Lahore Admin Ali Ahmad, Dr Gul Hameed Awan and Abdul Zahid Qureshi.

On the occasion, DCO Nabeel Javed, Parliament Secretary for Port and Shipping Mian Imtiaz Ahmad, Additional District Collector Syed Tariq Mehmood Bukhari, Assistant Commissioner Dr Javed Ahmad took the delegation to three different locations for this purpose. The officials declared the piece of land located at Amaan Garh, Abu Dhabi Road near Rahim Yar Khan suitable for the projects.

Later, the delegation visited Government Technology College, Swedish College and Khawaja Fareed College to start classes of engineering and information technology in September 2014. Taking to the media, Imtiaz Ahmad said that these educational projects would increase the status of Rahim Yar Khan district.

He said that the government was working on various projects to promote education, overcome energy crisis and improve living standard of the people. He added that work would start at the project of Cadet College. He said that the Punjab chief minister will inaugurate the projects on his visit to the district.
