LAHORE – Colony/Newage defeated Army Blue by eight goals to five in the Porsche National Open Polo Championship for the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup 2014 match played here at the Lahore Polo Club on Thursday. Matias Vial Perez of Colony/Newage was star of the day as he played superb polo and hammered impressive eight goals to steer his team to triumph.
The first chukker of the match was evenly poised as it ended in 2-2 draw. Army Blue’s Hassan Agha Khan opened the account for his team when he scored field goal by pass of Shah Qubilai Alam. Matias Vial Perez leveled the score 1-1 with an impressive 40 yards penalty hit. Army Blue’s Jamie Le Hardy with his spot penalty increased his team’s lead to 2-1. The leveler before the end of the first half was scored by Matias through 60 yards penalty hit to make it 2-2. One goal each by both the teams’ players was scored as the second chukkker ended in 3-3 score. Jamie made it 4-3 but Colony/Newage’s Matias came from behind to score two back-to-back goals to make it 5-4 when the third chukker was completed. One goal each came from both the teams in the fourth chukker while the last and decisive chukker was dominated by Colony/Newage as Matias added two more goals to complete his eight-goal haul. –Staff Rerporter
