LAHORE -  Senior PPP leader Navid Ch on Thursday said his party had made reconciliation with the government only for the sake of democracy, but it would not allow privatisation of the national institutions.

“The PPP would resist government’s privatisation move in the Parliament as well as on the streets”, he said while addressing a news conference alongwith office- bearers of the Peoples Unity of PIA at Lahore Press Club.

Navid Ch wondered that government had adopted policy of reconciliation with the banned TTP, but it was using Taliban’s language with the elected people.

He feared government wanted to end trade unionism and oblige its friends through privatisation of PIA and other institutions.

He said democracy was in danger due to undemocratic policies of the present government.

Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary, Peoples Unity, Hussain Abbas alleged that some 50 persons belonging to Air League, an allied wing of the PML-N, attacked the office of Peoples Unity at the Lahore Airport on Thursday.

They hurled abuses on its office-bearers, manhandled them and threatened them of dire consequences. They also tore up the pictures of Z.A Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari, he further alleged, adding, that police was called in, but the Air League men did not allow it enter the PIA Complex.

He demanded of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister Punjab to take notice of the incident. Abbas said that Peoples Unity was an elected body whose term would expire on April 2015.
