Lawyers held a protest demonstration against the district police over its failure to control street crimes and robbery incidents and against the district police officer’s “corrupt”.

They accused the DPO of taking bribe for releasing an accused involved in a criminal case. Meanwhile, farmers held a sit in at different villages on Phalia Road to protest against the government for not constructing Gujrat-Sargodha highway portion from Laither to King Road. They said funds allocated for the construction had been diverted to the construction of highway from Gojra to Mina Gondal on the recommendation of MNA Nasir Bosal.

They also criticised heads of district departments for not making their subordinates accountable. Their complaints against government officials are always disposed of without giving them relief, they complained.

The Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society’s Kissan Wing secretary alleged that the assistant commissioner of Mandi Bahauddin was tasked with holding an inquiry against Irrigation SDO for reduction of a water channel’s size in Shahidanwali area. But, he said, she was trying to side with the SDO.

He said whenever residents submit application for seeking relief, the officers create hurdles. On the other hand, he said, the blue-eyed persons of MNAs and MPAs succeed in getting their tasks fulfilled.
