Rawalpindi - Following the announcement of local bodies election date in cantonment boards areas as well as in Punjab, the district election commission Rawalpindi has started updating the lists of electoral rolls with registration of new voters.

Interested candidates of PML-N, PPP and PTI aspiring to contest the local bodies elections have stated obtaining copies of the voter lists and they are encouraging their supporters to get their names enrolled if they are not already enrolled.

Total number of registered votes in district Rawalpindi are 2,673,738 including 1,230,643 females. There are an unexpected small number of 47 votes of eunuch and 2,835 votes of members of  minority communities.  

According to estimates, the population of Rawalpindi district has crossed 3.5 million.

District election commission have prepared voter lists separately of all eight Towns of Rawalpindi including Rawal, Potohar, Gujar Khan, Murree, Kotli Sattian, Kahuta, Kalar Syedan and Taxila while voter lists of Chaklala and Rawalpindi cantonment boards have been prepared separately.

According to district Election commission, registration of new voters would continue till announcement of schedule for local bodies election in Rawalpindi.
