Islamabad - The national assembly standing committee on planning and development on Friday expressed displeasure over the improper planning in the construction of new Islamabad airport.

It seems that due to improper planning the project cost for commissioning of Islamabad airport escalated from Rs 37 billion to Rs 80 billion, the members observed.

The committee directed the ministry for early completion of the project to avoid further losses.

The committee also expressed concern over the incomplete information provided by the federal authorities and decided to invite the metro bus authority in the next meeting to discuss the matter in detail.

The agenda of the meeting was to discuss the PSDP 2015-16 projects.

Supporting budgetary proposals the committee directed the ministry to provide complete breakup of all the projects so that they could be examined properly.

The committee also directed Higher Education Commission to strengthen the existing campuses of Comstas and encouraged to establish new ones especially in rural areas of Sindh and Balochistan.
