Two Sialkot-based federal ministers have reiterated the government’s pledge to raise the people’s living standard and put the country on path to progress and prosperity.

Addressing the party workers at PML-N House Sialkot, Federal Minister for Defence, Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that the government was taking very keen interest in the beautification and uplift of Sialkot and making it a developed district of the country following its global industrial significance.

Asif said that the government is spending Rs400 million on the construction of 11 paved sewerage Nullahs on both sides of Sialkot-Sambrial Road from Sublime-China Chowk to Uggoki. It is establishing a siphon at Saahowala along the local canal for spilling out sewerage of the local urban areas, he said.

He added that after the successful completion of mega project of Eastern By Pass Sialkot, now the Punjab government would soon launch mega project of establishing the Western Bypass Sialkot which would be consisting of five sections, which would connect the Pasrur Road, Eimanabad Road, Daska Road and Wazirabad Road with each other through a dual carriageway. The project after completion will provide the better means of communication to the local people, besides, lessening the traffic load on the inter-city main roads in Sialkot city.

He said that the Punjab government has also chalked out a plan to establish a big recreational park at the site of ancient building of Sialkot District Jail and District Courts Sialkot while shifting Sialkot district jail and Sialkot District Courts to the other suitable places in outskirts of Sialkot city. He said that the shifting of the Sialkot District Jail and courts to the outskirts of the city would increase its beauty and help lessen traffic load on almost all the main inter-city roads.

He also directed MPAs Ikram, Manshaullah Butt and Rana Abdul Sattar to place their effective and positive suggestions to the Punjab government in this regard. He said that the construction work on the establishment of an underpass at Shahabpura Chowk-Sialkot and an overhead bridge at China Chowk would be started soon for ensuring the smooth flow of traffic on city roads. He said that the Punjab government had already approved the early construction of this underpass and over head bridge in Sialkot.

Earlier, he laid the foundation stone of a sewerage Nullah between Kotli Behram-Sialkot to China Chowk Sialkot. He said that the government has finalized the grand project of 93km Sialkot-Lahore Motorway and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will lay the foundation stone of the project within the next two months. He said that the motorway would be established between Sialkot and Kala Shah Kaku, which would reduce the travelling time to 65 minutes between Sialkot and Kala Shah Kaku. Addressing the party workers at his native city Pasrur after inaugurating Govt Land Revenue Centre at Pasrur, Federal Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid said that the government is making efforts to raise the living standard of the people by ensuring the easy and smooth provision of all basic facilities at their doorsteps.

He added that it is fulfilling its all the political promises besides doing politics of principles and ignoring its all the personal political gains. He also addressed a meeting of local Revenue Department officials held at Govt College for Elementary Teachers Pasrur. He asked the officials to utilise their full energies to serve the people with full devotion and dedication.
