LAHORE - Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has announced to receive online applications for new power connections from March 15 (Thursday) to facilitate the consumers. Lesco officials said company is making efforts to overcome all hindrances facing the system before the start of summer season.

They said that efforts were being made to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the region including provincial capital. They said that in the region all grid stations are being upgraded while the capacity of bus bar has also been increased at three grid stations which were 132kV Gulshan Ravi, 132kV Sheikupura, 132kV Nankana.

Meanwhile, WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (Retd), while addressing WAPDA employees here at WAPDA House, said that the WAPDA has been regaining glory of its past with brisk completion of the long-delayed projects in water and hydropower sectors during the last one-and-a-half years.  He further said that the prime minister had also approved honouraria for WAPDA employees in recognition of their services for completing the projects of national importance.

Dilating upon his priorities, Wapda chairman said that the core function of WAPDA is to implement its projects in the shortest possible time with laid down quality standards. He said that he considers WAPDA as a family, therefore, everyone is a family member for him. The role of every member of WAPDA family is equally important, hence, everyone has to play the given role with utmost commitment.

Giving a run-down of the measures taken by the present Authority for welfare of WAPDA officials, the chairman said that WAPDA Medical College will be made functional by the end of this year, wherein the children of employees, serving from Grade 1 to 16 will be entitled to get free-of-the-cost education. Cardiac Centre is being set up at WAPDA Hospital Complex Lahore, while the Gynae facilities are also being upgraded in the hospital to improve the healthcare system in WAPDA. He said that planning of housing scheme is also on advanced stage to accommodate retiring WAPDA employees.
