Senior officials meet IGP

Inspector General of Police Punjab Capt (r) Arif Nawaz Khan on Tuesday  said that IT reforms with respect to rules of modern policing have helped change  thana culture in the province. Addressing 52 senior officers of 108th National Management course here Tuesday, he said that following policy of zero tolerance to crimes, crackdowns against anti-social elements and terrorist organisations had been continuing. He applauded national action plan and expressed satisfaction over its implementation. He revealed that police service centres had been established in all districts of the province for facilitation of public where people were enjoying facilities of FIR copy, Police character certificate, registration of rent with other thirteen facilities under one roof.  He said that comprehensive strategic steps are being taken to enhance efficiency of force and existence of specialised units like CTD, SPU, Dolphin, Riverine and anti-riot force have improved progress of Punjab police manifold. Additional IG Operations Punjab Aamir Zulfiqar Khan briefed to participants of delegation about operational method, IT reforms, Law and Order of Punjab police and also steps taken against extremism and terrorism.  –APP

 CM condoles death of Saudi prince

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of senior member of royal family of Saudi Arabia, Prince Bandar Bin Khalid Bin Abdulaziz. In his condolence message, Shehbaz Sharif extended sympathies to the bereaved royal family and said that he has been deeply saddened over the passing away of the prince. He prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude. –APP

 Development schemes approved

The Punjab Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved development scheme of urban  development sector, with an estimated cost of Rs2953.11 million.  The scheme was approved in the special meeting of PDWP of the current fiscal year 2017-18, presided over by Chairman P&D Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan.  Secretary P&D Iftikhar Ali Sahoo and all officials concerned attended the meeting.The approved development schemes included land acquisition and construction of boundary wall for ‘Construction of Wastewater Treatment Plants at Mehmood Booti, Shahdbagh & Shahdara, Lahore’ and ‘Construction of Surface Water Treatment Plant at BRBD Canal, Near Ravi Syphon, Lahore’ at the cost of Rs2953.11 million.  –APP
